The Alesis MMT-8 retails at £299 which is a steal, by any standards, for a MIDI sequencer. The question is, does it do its job and can it compete with its computer-based rivals? It doesn't have - on the face of it - 48 or 60 tracks, and its 32-character backlit LCD display has nothing on a high resolution mono video monitor.

Just took my MMT8 out of storage and finally sat down and fixed the horrible keys but I can't seem to remember how to assign different lengths to different tracks (is this even possible on the same part?). Maybe I should mess with different part lengths and have them play simultaneously?

The machine in question here, the Alesis MMT-8, is a MIDI warhorse if ever there was one - dismissed by snobs and deep-pocketed artists in its day, but quietly powering a whole lot of music since its late 80s introduction.
